Former two-division world champion Tomasz Adamek (48-2, 29 KOs) has brushed off reports that he withdrew from a planned fight with Kubrat Pulev (17-0, 9KOs) due to fear. They were two of the four men involved in the IBF's four man tournament to set a mandatory challenger for unified heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko.
Adamek stated last week that there were far more lucrative opportunities on the table for other potential fights. According to the Polish star, there was no financial motivation to move forward with the Pulev eliminator.
Adamek expects to return in April or May and says the details are being worked out.
"I do not want to comment any further [on the topic of Pulev]. But certainly being scared of him was not the case...let's be serious here. I do not know yet where I will fight. Soon, everything should be explained. I think the official details will be provided in about a week and a half. It's too early to say anything," Adamek said.
