If there were any questions about Jermain Taylor's physical condition for Saturday's fight with Arthur Abraham (30-0, 24KOs), those questions were answered on Monday. BoxingScene.com has learned that Taylor is already at his fighting weight. Taylor (28-3, 17KOs), after eating a full dinner, was 169-pounds; only one pound away from the super middleweight limit.
During a recent interview, Taylor said his stamina was failing him in the late rounds of some fights because he was dropping a lot of weight in the last couple of weeks of his training camps. One fight in particular was the twelfth round TKO loss to WBC champion Carl Froch. Taylor was ahead on the cards but fell apart in last two rounds when he ran out of gas.
During the camp for Abraham, Taylor dropped his weight slowly to avoid any issues with stamina. Abraham has also had some issues with weight. He moves up to 168 after struggling too much to make the middleweight limit in his last couple of fights. The fight with Abraham, part of the Super Six tournament, takes place at the O2 World Arena in Kreuzberg, Berlin, Germany.
