Abraham “Chamaco” Lopez passed his biggest test to date with flying colors on Friday evening, scoring a fourth round knockout of Jorge Espinoza in battle of unbeaten featherweights at the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario, California.

The fight ended when Lopez landed a crushing left hook to the body that put Espinoza down for the count at 0:43 of the fourth round.

Lopez, who lives in nearby La Puente, scored two knockdowns in the evening’s main event, the first of which came in the second round courtesy of a left hook to the chin. Espinoza – born in Mexico but now based out of the Bay Area - beat the count, but was taken out two rounds later.

The win is the fourth of the year for Lopez, who improves to 16-0 (12KO). Espinoza falls to 7-1 (3KO), losing for the first time in a pro career that began in 2003 but has seen two separate layoffs of two years and four years.

Managed by the Espinoza Boxing Club (no relation to Jorge Espinoza), Lopez remains a fixture on the California club scene, primarily at the Doubletree Hotel. The bout was the seventh time in which he has played the venue, including his last four fights as well as his pro debut in March 2008.
