According to reports in Germany, "King" Arthur Abraham will likely return in a tune-up clash on February 12 in Germany and then face WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward in the semi-finals of the Super Six Boxing Classic in either April or May. Abraham has already returned to training, joining coach Ulli Wegner at the Max Schmeling Gym.
Wegner wants to rebuild Abraham after the embarrassing decision loss to Carl Froch on November 27 in Helsinki. Abraham has claimed that he overtrained for the Froch bout. A theory that Wegner agees with.
"Arthur had to prepare himself three times, because the fight was postponed again and again. Arthur is carved out of a special kind of wood. Before Christmas when I was operated on, he came to see me in the hospital and conversed with me for two hours. Arthur never said that the trainer was at fault [for the loss] and that impressed me. I will construct Arthur again. Arthur wants to rebuild," Wegner told George Lubrich.
The February tune-up requires the approval from the Showtime network, who are running the Super Six Boxing Classic.
