Philadelphia, Pa - The Legendary Blue Horizon presented a 7-bout card on Friday night.  The 1,000 or so fans were enthralled with Chazz Witherspoon’s main event bout with Innocent Otukwu.  It was scheduled for 6-rounds, but Witherspoon (232 lbs) was celebrating a birthday and Otukwu (221 lbs) didn’t bring balloons.

Witherspoon showed sharp finishing skills when he hurt the Nigerian in the 2nd round and finished off the wobbling foe at :45 of the 2nd.  Chazz will next fight on his cousin’s promotional debut on Oct. 14th, as Tim Witherspoon, the 2-time heavyweight champ, puts Chazz in his 15th pro fight.  Witherspoon, now 14-0 with 8KO’s, was presented a birthday cake by Promoter and Blue Horizon owner, Vernoca Michael and Blue Horizon matchmaker, Don Elbaum in the ring after the victory.

Although he hails from Minnesota Joey Abell has earned a following in Philadelphia.  “Minnesota Ice” came to Philly for the 3rd time to a resounding cheer.  From the first ding Abell controlled David Cleage.  Cleage was dropped in a corner in the 2nd after several thudding punches and ref, Ron Aurit’s inspection didn’t find any intention to get up in Cleage’s eyes.  It was announced as a TKO at 2:51 of the 2nd for the 8-0 (8 KOs) Abell.

Steve Chambers (141 pounds) improved to 13-1 with a TKO over Reggie Nash.  The fresh-faced Nash tried to rough up Chambers on the inside, but Chambers was able to adapt and end the bout at 1:38 of the 3rd round by clubbing Nash as he held onto the ropes.  Nash, 138½ lbs, falls to 9-15.
