PHILIPPINE junior welterweight champion Bart Abapo aims to clean up his path towards a title shot when he takes on Davao's Christopher Saluday in tonight’s main event of a card in Barangay Paltok, District 1, Quezon City.
Abapo faces Saluday in scheduled 10-round fight as part of the card that will feature World Boxing Association Pan-African champ Bert Batawang taking on Noel Veronque in non-title tiff.
If he wins tonight, the pride of Talisay City will next fight for a much tougher opponent on June 15 in Singapore where he is getting his shot at a regional championship.
Abapo, a 5-8 orthodox from ALA Stable in Cebu City, has on-going negotiations to challenge Daudy “The Bali Boy” Bahari for the WBA’s Pan Asian Boxing Association junior welterweight title in Singapore.
"No more details we can inform including the name of the venue, as this fight is still under arrangement," said Indon promoter Pino Bahari.
Suffered five loses in his last 10 fights, has knocked his record to a 17-5-2 win-loss-draw records with 12 by way of knockout.
Bahari is fresh from taking a controversial technical decision victory over former Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation lightweight king Dennis Laurente in Indonesia. He has 28-1-1, 11 KOs.
Philippine top ranked bantam Johnny Lear also included in the Quezon City bill. He will duke it out with Daniel Diolan.
Other matches are between former RP title challenger Sherwin Paro and Roberto Rubillar, Ruther Del Castillo and Roel Lagonero.
The first bell rings with the battle between Michael Correa and Max Orcajada.
