Merida, Yucatan. - Boxing from the distance and imposing his skills, hometown hero Aaron "Jewel" Herrera won a ten round unanimous decision over Joksan "Torito" Hernandez. Herrera (23-0, 15 KOs) was the boss in the ring and landed some very good shots on the veteran Hernandez (22-5-0, 14 KOs), who tried to complicate things with a smothering approach. Herrera used his movement, boxing skills and a lot of activity to dominate the junior welterweight action.
In a junior welterweight fight filled with great action and drama, veteran Luis "Vampiro" Arceo scored an upset win an eight round TKO over Mientras Castillo, who suffered a bad cut above his right eye. Arceo (24-11-4, 16 KOs) displayed good boxing skills, while Castillo (21-2-0, 19 KOs) was confused, desperate and took punishment. Castillo visited the canvas in the third round after being caught with a left hand. He continued to take damage, including a beating in the seventh round, which prompted his corner to sit him out before the eight. The ref counted him out in the corner.
Also on the card, flyweight Alonso Lopez, son of Ricardo "Finito" Lopez, extended his undefeated streak with a third round stoppage of Ivan Galicia. Lopez (12-0-1, 5 KOs) punished Galicia until the fight was stopped.
