LOS ANGELES - The seven day weights are in the books for Saturday's anticipated featherweight showdown between undefeated two-division world champion Leo "El Terremoto" Santa Cruz (30-0-1, 17 KOs) and former three-division world champion Abner Mares (29-1-1, 15 KOs).
Mares weighed in at 129-pounds, and Santa Cruz was 130-pounds. The featherweight limit is 126.
The seven day weighin is mandatory by the World Boxing Council. The two boxers are competing for the WBC's Diamond championship.
In the co-feature, another all-Mexican battle as power-punchers Hugo Ruiz (35-2, 30 KOs) and Julio Cesar Ceja (28-1, 26 KOs) square off in a super bantamweight world title match.
Ruiz came in at 125-pounds and Ceja was 123-pounds.
Both fights will be carried by Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) on ESPN and ESPN Deportes on Saturday, August 29 from STAPLES Center in Los Angeles beginning at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.
