(SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS) – The 2010 National PAL Championships opened preliminary action on Monday with nine open division bouts on Monday night at the Municipal Auditorium in San Antonio, Texas. Over 750 boxers will compete in the week-long tournament in San Antonio featuring boxers in four different age divisions and both male and female action. The event will serve as the first qualifying tournament for both the Men’s Olympic Team Trials and Women’s Pan American Games Trials, tentatively scheduled for July of 2011.
First round action was contested in the bantamweight and middleweight divisions in the opening session of the event on Monday night with nine boxers moving on to the next round.
Competition will resume on Tuesday with two sessions of boxing in all four age divisions, including open division action for both men and women.
