Arthur Abraham vs. Patrick Nielsen in Play, Agit Kabayel Returns

By Per Ake Persson

EBU heavyweight champion Agit Kabayel (17-0, 12KOs) will defend the April 21 at the Estrel Congress Center in Berlin with SES promoting. As for opponent it´s not yet officially confirmed by SES yet but the EBU list Miljan Rovcanin as opponent.

Rovcanin drew with Aleksander Dimitrenko, the mandatory challenger for the EBU title, late last year in Hamburg but after a protest from Dimitrenko Rovcanin was declared the loser. Kabayel was relatively lightly regarded until he beat Dereck Chisora in Monte Carlo. Now he is one of many fringe contenders for the big boys.

In second main event WBO I/C heavyweight champ Tom Schwarz (20-0) will defend the title against an opponent to be announced. The Estrel Congress Center was often used during Universum´s golden years earlier this decade but hasn´t been used for professional boxing events in over a decade.

Danish paper BT writes that a fight between Arthur Abraham, 46-6 and still with Team Sauerland, and Patrick Nielsen, 29-2, now a freelancer, could be in the making. Both men needs wins badly: Abraham was outclassed against Chris Eubank, Jr, in his last fight while Nielsen was knocked out by John Ryder.  According to BT there are talks but no agreement in place yet.

April 21 appears to be a big day for heavyweight boxing in Europe with Adrian Granat vs Otto Wallin fighting for the vacant EU and Swedish titles in Sundsvall this day. In Czestochowa (Poland) Tomasz Adamek (52-5) square off against Joey Abell (34-9). Abell is well remembered in Sweden after some good fights some ten years ago but have had some tough losses as well including some in Europe. But against Adamek, still good but what he once was, he is in with a good chance.

Sauerland Event have put a press release in German that indicates that all is well with WBA "regular" super middleweight champ Tyorn Zeuge, ahead of the rematch against Isaac Ekpo on March 24 in Hamburg. Both trainer - and fighter - Juergen Braehmer and stablemate Araik Marutjan went down for the count with flu but Zeuge never got ill and is ready for the fight.
Oh, ffs. Abraham needs to seriously give it a rest. Either he's broke or he enjoys being beaten up because he sure isn't winning anything.
Agree but Nielsen isn't good and can easily see him winning this

Kabayel is solid, he should beat Rovcanin. Hopefully Schwarz steps up soon. Granat vs Wallin will be a fun Swedish clash. Adamek will outbox Abell easily, but Abell could land a big shot like Molina and knock him out. Think…
