NEW YORK – Chris Arreola can’t see any way he and Adam Kownacki won’t produce a fan-friendly heavyweight brawl August 3.

Their styles seem perfectly suited for that type of scrap, a battle Arreola and Kownacki wish they could watch from ringside seats. Their 12-round fight will headline a “PBC On FOX” tripleheader at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

“I believe me and Adam are gonna put on a great fight,” Arreola said during a press conference Tuesday at Barclays Center. “I’m really excited for this fight. Even as a fan, it’s the kind of a fight I would wanna watch. I believe it’s gonna be one of those fights that’s gonna be talked about for years. So, I’m coming in the best shape possible.”

The 38-year-old Arreola (38-5-1, 33 KOs, 2 NC) has won back-to-back bouts by technical knockout since ending a two-year layoff late in 2018. He stopped previously unbeaten Jean Pierre Augustin (17-1-1, 12 KOs) in the third round of his last fight, March 16 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The 30-year-old Kownacki (19-0, 15 KOs) stopped Gerald Washington (19-3-1, 12 KOs) in the second round of his last appearance, January 26 at Barclays Center.

“I know it’ll be a tough test,” Kownacki said. “He’s coming off two knockout wins, so I know he’s gonna be ready. I’m gonna be more ready. It’s gonna be the third opponent me and Deontay Wilder have in common. Obviously, he has the belt and that’s what I’m going for. I was able to stop Artur Szpilka and Gerald Washington faster than he did. And I’m gonna try do that with Chris Arreola.”

Wilder (41-0-1, 40 KOs), the WBC champion, defeated Arreola after eight rounds in July 2016 at Legacy Arena in Birmingham, Alabama. Arreola, who has fought for the WBC title three times, will try to knock Kownacki off his own path toward a title shot.

“I said if I lose, I’m would retire,” Arreola said. “And I’m not gonna lose. I’m coming out here with guns blazing, man, and I’m coming in here with the win. This is a big fight for myself, this is a big fight for Adam and I guarantee you there’s gonna be some fireworks.”

FOX will televise two other bouts as part of this August 3 show.

In the opener, Marcus Browne (23-0, 16 KOs), of Staten Island, New York, will defend his WBA world light heavyweight title against former WBC champ Jean Pascal (33-6-1, 20 KOs, 1 NC), of Laval, Quebec, in a 12-rounder. Between Browne-Pascal and Kownacki-Arreola, former WBC welterweight champ Andre Berto (32-5, 24 KOs), of Winter Haven, Florida, will meet Miguel Cruz (18-1, 12 KOs), of Lake Mary, Florida, in a 10-rounder.
