Archie Sharp and Dennis McCann both returned to the ring in style as they each claimed victories on Saturday. The duo were competing on a Queensberry Promotions event at the Royal Albert Hall in London, which was broadcast live on BT Sport.
Archie Sharp, the WBO’s No 2 super-featherweight, worked off some ring rust after 11 months out of the ring and had to overcome a nasty looking cut before earning a unanimous points decision over Mexico’s Diego Andrade in their often messy. show closer at the Royal Albert Hall.
Lyndon Arthur and Zach Parker look to build on their respective rises to title contention as they share a bill in separate bouts this weekend. I DON’T WANT to tempt fate or put the mockers on it, but I think all England fans are allowing ourselves to dream a little at the moment, aren’t we? A LONG-PLANNED fight date being aborted with a few day's notice is usually a source of great anguish for the affected fighter concerned. In the case of Archie Sharp a few weeks or so back it was a blessing in disguise and he was more than happy to be absent for the events taking place in Telford.
WHEN THE FOOTBALL is poised to draw to a close we are ready to return a serving of top boxing back to your screens on July 10 in one of London’s most regal settings. The venue for our BT broadcast fistic delivery is the grand old Royal Albert Hall, which we have happily restored to the boxing map over the last couple of years or so. There really is no place like it for watching the sport and, if you haven’t experienced it, I recommend you giving it a bash.
Light-Heavyweight rivals Lyndon Arthur and Anthony Yarde both return to action on Saturday July 10 at the Royal Albert Hall, ahead of a contracted rematch later this year. Arthur narrowly outpointed Yarde in December and they will get a close up of each other once again on Queensberry’s summer special live on BT Sport.
Archie Sharp insists he will not stress and worry about things he cannot change after this week’s planned fight with Marcio Soza was called off.
Archie Sharp extended his unbeaten record to 19 fights with a ten-round points decision over Jeff Ofori, at York Hall, London, although having talked up his prospects for big fights in the build-up, the 25-year-old super-featherweight prospect, he failed to take the opportunity to make a statement.
THE FOURTH SHOW of BT Sport's exciting summer schedule has been brought forward and will now take place on Saturday August 15 with the addition of Belfast stars Carl Frampton and Michael Conlan to the card.
