Boxxer promoter Ben Shalom has admitted the enticing all-London light heavyweight showdown between Joshua Buatsi and Anthony Yarde is beginning to look less likely to happen.

Tunde Ajayi praised the “massive achievement” of Anthony Yarde’s fight with Artur Beterbiev being awarded Fight of the Year by the British Boxing Board of Control. It was Ajayi, Yarde’s trainer and manager, who intervened to rescue him in the eighth round of the thrilling contest in January 2023 for the undefeated Beterbiev’s IBF, WBO and WBC light-heavyweight titles. Beterbiev is on course to fight for the undisputed title against his fellow Russian Dmitrii Bivol in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on June 1, and the 32-year-old Yarde is expected to fight Joshua Buatsi in a stadium in London later that month.

Anthony Yarde and Joshua Buatsi remain on course for an eagerly awaited light heavyweight showdown, and promoter Frank Warren assures that the matchup is "definitely a London fight."

With Joshua Buatsi sat at ringside, Anthony Yarde (25-3, 24 KO’s) decided to put on a show. The 32 year old barely broke a sweat and took apart Marko Nikolic (32-4, 12 KO’s) inside three one sided rounds.

HAMZAH SHEERAZ, ON Saturday, has the opportunity to post his most emphatic and meaningful statement to date when he goes up against Liam Williams at London’s Copper Box Arena in what is our opening show of 2024, live on TNT Sports.

Anthony Yarde feels his stock rose in the wake of Artur Beterbiev’s vicious beatdown of Callum Smith. Yarde, London, England, arguably gave Beterbiev, the IBF, WBC, WBO light heavyweight champion from Russia, the toughest outing in the ring in recent memory. The two went toe to toe in one of the more entertaining fights of 2023, but Beterbiev pulled away late, stopping Yarde in the eighth round. Yarde, however, was leading on two scorecards.
