Anthony Yarde: Arthur's Win Boring, Spelman Wouldn't Last Twelve With Me

This past Friday night at the BT Sport studios, Lyndon ‘King’ Arthur decisioned Dec Spelman to secure a planned October fight with top light heavyweight contender Anthony Yarde.

Arthur and Yarde had been booked to face each other earlier this year, but the fight was pushed back due to the coronavirus pandemic.

To get there, Arthur had to overcome Spelman over twelve rounds, with scores of 116-112, 116-113 and 119-109.

But Yarde was far from impressed with Arthur's win and found it a boring contest.

He feels very confident in his ability to defeat Arthur when the finally collide in the ring.

"Who do I send the invoice to, because I need to be paid to watch that?" Yarde said. "To me it was a boring fight, I'm all about entertainment. Lyndon done his thing, it was easy to box that guy. He just jabbed him. I know there is no crowd there, but people are watching. Everyone wants entertainment.

"I'm not going to criticise too much, in my opinion he won every round, but it was boring. Spelman wouldn't have gone twelve rounds with me. Everyone knows that, Lyndon knows that. Him walking forward taking shots like that, you are not lasting twelve rounds with me.

"I'm ready to fight whenever. I might fight again in September, because I am eager to get back in there. I don't need to, I don't believe in shaking out your ring rust. Whatever is going to happen on the night will happen anyway. If it is October I am ready. If it is before, I am ready."
There's at least a couple couple of British 175ers that I think would beat Yarde, Johnson and Buatsi spring to mind.
I'll second that, Yarde was pretty one-dimensional against Sergey Kovalev.

Odd for Yarde to say he doesn’t believe in shaking off ring rust because apart from Kovalev, seems like his whole career has been based on that

Yarde better stick to fighting second tier opponents Don’t give him much of a chance against the big boys of the division

There's at least a couple couple of British 175ers that I think would beat Yarde, Johnson and Buatsi spring to mind, just not sure if Arthur is also on that list.
