WBA lightweight champion Anthony Crolla (30-4-3, 12KOs) is already getting mentally prepared for his first title defense in the first few months of 2016.

Ismael Barroso (19-0-2, 18 KOs) recently announced himself on the world stage with a devastating fifth round knockout of Kevin Mitchell at London’s O2 Arena. With the victory, the Venezuelan captured the WBA interim title at lightweight making him the potential challenger for current world champion Anthony Crolla in his next fight. Logically the bout could happen at some point next year although a member of Barroso’s team believes another direction is more likely for Crolla.

Eddie Hearn has confirmed that an offer is on the table for Anthony Crolla to face the winner of the WBO lightweight title fight between Terry Flanagan and Derry Mathews. Manchester’s Flanagan is set to defend his title against Mathews, from Liverpool, at the Echo Arena on February 13. The promoter of the pair, Frank Warren, told media last week that contact had been made with the team of WBA champ Crolla regarding a potential unification showdown.

Frank Warren has one eye on the future, despite making a lightweight world title clash between two of his own fighters. The promoter revealed that he has sent an offer of £500,000 to WBA lightweight champion Anthony Crolla.

Anthony Crolla would welcome the chance to make the first defence of his WBA world lightweight title against domestic rival Kevin Mitchell. Crolla (30-4-3-KO12) delighted Manchester on Saturday night when he relieved Darleys Perez of his belt with a spectacular fifth-round stoppage - and is already talking about opponents for 2016.

Anthony Crolla knocked out Darleys Perez to become WBA world lightweight champion in Manchester. Crolla was denied a world belt in July when his first clash with Perez was declared a draw - the decision robbing the Manchester fighter an emotional win in the wake of him sustaining serious injuries while trying to detain a burglar earlier in the year. However, it was a different story at the Manchester Arena on Saturday night, as a bodyshot proved the Colombian's undoing with 30 seconds of the fifth round remaining.

In-ring action the first time around was so nice that Darleys Perez and Anthony Crolla have decided to do it twice. The pair of lightweights meet again, four months after their thrilling 12-round title fight that was met with a widely disputed outcome. Many felt Crolla did enough to deserve the crown, only to settle for a majority draw in his own backyward. As was the case in July, the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England once again plays host to the bout, which will air live on Sky Sports in the United Kingdom and A Wealth of Entertainment (AWE) in the United States.

It took four months longer than expected, but Anthony Crolla finally landed a storybook ending to a miraculous ring return. The local favorite needed just a single left hook to the body to wrest the lightweight crown from Darleys Perez in their anticipated rematch Saturday evening in Manchester, England.

Anthony Crolla is relishing a 'dogfight' as he looks to take Darleys Perez's world title in Saturday's rematch. Crolla (29-4-3-KO11) takes on Colombia's WBA world lightweight champion at the Manchester Arena for a second time and is desperate to wash away the agony of July's controversial draw.

Anthony Crolla weighed in a pound inside the lightweight limit for Saturday's WBA world title rematch with Darleys Perez. With the governing body ordering a second bout in the wake of July's majority draw, both fighters tipped the scales at 9st 8lbs [134-pounds] ahead of facing off again at the Manchester Arena - live on Sky Sports. Crolla told Sky Sports afterwards: "I'm really happy. It's been a fantastic camp and I'm in the best shape of my career. I'm ready to be world champion on Saturday night.
