Former unified heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz believes promoter Eddie Hearn will derail the possibility of a trilogy fight with Anthony Joshua.

Back in June of 2019, Ruiz pulled off a tremendous upset when he stopped Joshua in seven rounds to capture the unified crown. But, six months later Joshua recovered his belts when he outboxed Ruiz over twelve rounds to secure a dominant decision win.

Ruiz has been calling for a trilogy fight for the last few years, but he believes Hearn will never allow it to happen.

“I don’t think they want to fight. I think Eddie Hearn is already traumatized. He doesn’t want to match him against anyone good unless he’s trying to get his money and leave," Ruiz told ES News.

The first bout took place in New York City, with the rematch coming off in the Middle East. Ruiz has no problem with traveling to the UK for the third fight.

“Of course, I’ll go over there. Remember, when I fought him in the ring, I was overweight. I forgot everything that I was doing with the rematch," Ruiz said.

Ruiz has been out of the ring since banking a twelve round decision over Luis Ortiz in September 2022.

He was in talks for a final WBC eliminator against Deontay Wilder, who claims Ruiz priced himself out by demanding an enormous amount of money

“I’ve been stuck on the shelf, hiding myself. A lot of people don’t know the situation I’ve been in and my problems. That’s one of the reasons I wanted to come over here to show my faith, and I’m ready to get back in action," Ruiz said.

“By next year, I want to fight three or four times. I want to get a fight in. We’re still waiting for Wilder. I’m telling everybody that I never asked for $25 million. That’s bullsh!t. Tell him to show me the proof of where I told him that I wanted $25 million."
