Andrzej Fonfara vs. Ismayl Sillakh on June 16 in Warsaw

By Alexey Sukachev

Twelve long years after making his professional boxing debut on domestic soil, Andrzej "The Polish Prince" Fonfara (29-5, 17 KOs) will once again try to entertain his local fans.

WBC #8 and former two-time world title challenger Fonfara, 30, will face the ever dangerous opponent in fragile but hard-hitting Ukrainian Ismayl Sillakh (25-5, 19 KOs).

The bout will take place on June 16 at the Torwar in Warsaw, Poland. The bout is said to take place at the cruiserweight limit.

Both fighters are coming back from some rather bitter experiences as of late.

Fonfara's recent career has been a roller-coaster, as he was stopped in one round by upset specialist Joe Smith Jr. in June 2016, then he came back with a TKO 10 over former light heavyweight king Chad Dawson, and then was stopped in a rematch by WBC 175-pound champion Adonis Stevenson a year ago.

Meanwhile, Sillakh is just 1-3 in his most recent fights and was brutally knocked out in seconds by Russian rising gun Alexey Papin. He gave a hell of a fight to Mateusz Masternak before that defeat, but came short on a narrow decision.

IN OTHER NEWS: Herb Santos, Sr., a longtime Reno attorney and Nevada boxing judge, and former Nevada Athletic Commissioner, will be inducted into the National Boxing Hall of Fame in Montebello, California on April 28, 2018 along with a distinguished class consisting of:

Muhammad Ali, George Chuvalo, Lupe Pintor, Ruben Castillo, Juan LaPorte, Eddie Mustafa Muhammad, Richie Sandoval, Carlos Zarate, Michele Chong, Miguel Diaz, Al Bernstein, Aaron Snowell, Jerry Quarry, Zora Folley, and Bundin Brown.

“To be inducted into the National Boxing Hall of Fame, along with the other legendary inductees, is an honor which is a dream come true.  I cannot express my gratitude to the Hall of Fame for recognizing my work in boxing over the last forty years.  This is a sport which means so much to so many people.  To be part of its history is a wonderful experience,”  Santos said.
Sillakh getting KO'd by everyone these days smh
You're right. His story is similar to David Price's, in a way. From hot prospect with great potential to a knockout defeat nearly every time he gets in a ring.
