Andrew Moloney will receive a long overdue hometown showcase. The former secondary WBA junior bantamweight titlist will return to the ring December 9, Tony Tolj—Moloney’s career long manager—told BoxingScene.com. Moloney will face Philippines Froilan Saludar in the main event of the first of two boxing shows playing on back-to-back evenings at Newcastle (Australia) Entertainment Centre.

Franco fought intelligently and regularly beat Moloney to the punch during a 12-round bout he won by unanimous decision to retain his WBA world super flyweight title. San Antonio’s Franco defeated Australia’s Moloney on points for the second time in 13½ months and decisively settled the controversy that lingered in the ninth months since their immediate rematch resulted in an infamous no-contest.

The 115-pound boxers both made weight Friday afternoon for a main event ESPN will televise from Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tulsa, Oklahoma. San Antonio’s Franco came in at 114.2 pounds for a defense of his WBA world super flyweight title, slightly less than Australia’s Moloney (114.8 pounds).
