Russian heavyweight prospect Denis Boytsov, 23, has decided to pursue another opponent while waiting for his shot at a major title. The WBA's Inter-Continental champion (26-0, 21 KO) wants to take away the champion’s belt from his compatriot Nikolai Valuev.
“I’ve already had 26 bouts in the professional ring and I’ve won them all, - told Boytsov to Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper. – With each victory I gain confidence, I feel that I can win, and it doesn’t matter who my opponent is. Once I became the Junior world champion. Now I have to move forward. I want to meet Valuev in the ring and claim his title. Although, Nikolai isn’t aware of my plans yet”.
Earlier Denis Boytsov promised that next year would become his year, though it’s yet to be seen how soon his promoter, Universum, can make a title bout for the talented Russian. Especially against Valuev who is promoted by Klaus-Peter Kohl’s main rival Wilfried Sauerland.
