Former WBC Super Middleweight and WBA Light Heavyweight Champion, Badou Jack took another step outside of the ring and in his entrepreneurial ventures by hosting his first ever Boxing/Kickboxing card under the newly established Badou Jack Promotions & Events LLC at the Five Palm Jumeirah resort in Dubai on Friday, May 3rd.
Amir Khan is very confident that a deal can be made for domestic showdown with Kell Brook. Khan and Brook have been rivals for years, and their fight appeared to be close to getting put together when the Bolton boxer signed a promotional deal with Eddie Hearn, who also handles Brook.
Bolton star Amir Khan, 32-years-old, believes he is far from finished at the upper-elite level in boxing. Last month, Khan suffered a sixth round TKO defeat at the hands of WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
“Quitter” is one of the dirtiest words in boxing. We admire fighters who “go out on their shield” rather than give up no matter the circumstances. In other words, we expect them to take a beating even if they have little to no chance of winning so no one will accuse them of cowardice. It’s an unwritten rule, regardless of how unfair it might be.
New York - Terence Crawford (35-0, 26 KO’s) did his part of on his pay-per-view by taking care of Amir Khan (35-3, 20 KO’s) last Saturday. His counterpart Errol Spence (25-0, 21 KO’s) did the same when he took care of Mikey Garcia on their pay-per-view last month.
AS YOU MIGHT have gathered from last week’s column, I didn’t hold out too many hopes for Amir Khan in his quest to roll back the years and knock pound for pound star Terence Crawford off his perch.
LAS VEGAS – Errol Spence Jr. wasn’t the least bit surprised Terence Crawford beat up Amir Khan. Spence expected Crawford to dominate Khan because he feels it was a mismatch. The unbeaten IBF welterweight champion was surprised Khan didn’t try to continue after Crawford hit him with what was ruled an unintentional low blow during the sixth round Saturday night at Madison Square Garden in New York.
Promoter Eddie Hearn does not believe Amir Khan is a quitter, for what transpired during last Saturday's fight with WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Khan, who went down in the first, was trying his best to turn the tide against Crawford - but the fight was was called in the sixth round.
New York - Not many people were giving Amir Khan (35-3, 33 KO’s) a chance last Saturday when he took on pound-for-pound stalwart Terence Crawford (35-0, 26 KO’s). Khan, for what he lacked in punch resistance, always made up with it with his big heart. Many people felt that he would have his moments because of his quick hands and quick feet before Crawford would eventually catch up with him.
Kell Brook would love to give his domestic rival, Amir Khan, "a smack” for questioning his sexuality. The two former world champions have traded words for several years and have never been able to reach an agreement to face each other in the ring. Their verbal barbs reached an all-time high a few months ago - when Khan questioned the sexuality of Brook.
