Former junior welterweight champion Amir Khan (32-4, 20 KOs) is eager to get back in the ring as soon as possible.

Khan returned to the ring last month at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, and knocked out Phil Lo Greco in only 39 seconds.

Earlier this year, Khan signed a three fight promotional contract with Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport.

After his battering of Lo Greco, Khan is now back in the mix with other top welterweight names.

After his head trainer Virgil Hunter became ill, Khan began working with veteran coach Joe Goossen. The two have really hit it off and Khan will continue to work with him.

"I'm back with a big bang, and I had to make a statement when I came back," Khan told Sky Sports. "I think I made that statement. It's all about now being smart and finishing off, and leaving a great legacy.

"It's been a long time I've been out of the ring, a lot has happened in my life. I was down a lot and I needed to get back in the ring. I'm happy in the ring. I'm a happy person when I'm fighting, and I'm glad I've got the opportunity to do that now. I never want to be back in that position again."

Khan power was in full force in the Lo Greco win, which explains is due to his right hand being 100%.

After the loss to Canelo, Khan underwent surgery on his hand - to finally correct an injury that bothered him for several years.

"I'm sitting on my shots a little bit more," said Khan. "I've been working on my power. My hand is better now. I'm hitting with more confidence."
