Amir Khan has revealed he wants to fight Kell Brook in May if a bout with Manny Pacquiao fails to materialize.

Khan is on a three-man shortlist of possible opponents for the Filipino in his final fight on April 9 in Las Vegas along with Americans Terence Crawford and Timothy Bradley.

The former world super-lightweight champion, who has not fought since beating Chris Algieri on points in May, said if he is snubbed by Pacquiao's camp on Friday he would face rival Brook at Wembley Stadium.

"I'm waiting to hear back from Pacquiao," the 28-year-old Briton is quoted as saying by The Sun.

"I'm pretty sure he doesn't fancy Bradley or Crawford, so I'm in with a chance."

However, promoter Bob Arum is on record as saying he hopes Pacquiao does not pick Khan and does not expect him to.

Such an outcome would be another snub for Khan, who saw two previous attempts to force a fight with Floyd Mayweather fail when the unbeaten champion chose Marcos Maidana and Andre Berto instead.

He added: "If Manny chooses someone else, I'll fight Brook.

"I know I can beat him and it should be at Wembley in late May."

Brook is the reigning IBF welterweight champion and is recovering from a rib injury which forced him to pull out of a defence against Diego Chavez in October.
