A few days ago, former world champion Amir Khan issued an ultimatum to his wife and parents - warning both sides to immediately cease their public war of words in the press and social media.

The entire situation erupted last week, after Khan's wife, Faryal Makhdoom, took to Snapchat and went after Khan's parents and sister. She claimed they had continuously "bullied" her "physically and mentally.”

The situation only got worse from there, as Khan's parents did interviews to defend themselves and Faryal did interviews to double-down on her claims of abuse.

Faryal raised the level of tension when she posted a naked photo of Khan's younger brother, Harry, on her social network account. That move drove the entire Khan family crazy.

"I apologise on the silly picture and message my wife Faryal put up. Here is me working my a** off helping the less fortunate with charity dinners and my family and wife are just destroying my name," Khan wrote in a social media post.

"I didn't want to get involved in this mess. There is NO reality television show. My parents are my parents and my wife is my wife. Whatever misunderstanding has happened they should keep it private.

"This is getting to the point where they will lose a son and a husband. Childish behaviour. Both parties need to stop this. I've had enough."

But then Faryal went on national television in the UK to discuss the family rift.

Speaking to This Morning, she said: “Being so young and getting married into a very big family and then having to hear in the media about Amir in the beginning, I had a rough time reading that, I was pregnant and I had my in laws… it was just a mess.

“Over the years Amir’s brother and sister went on Twitter rants, went on Instagram rants talking about me saying I don’t get along with them, saying I'm very fake, saying I've done plastic surgery, calling me Michael Jackson – I was a pregnant woman; reading all that was not really nice. “Anyway, I used to take it in, I was very, very patient about it – I thought my silence would probably make them stop."

Khan's father and business adviser, Shah Khan, has come out swinging after Faryal's televised accusations.

“She is trying to come between us, she is trying to break up the very close relationship we have with Amir. She is a very evil woman," Shah told Daily Star.

“I have given and taken with her. We all have. All she wants is the limelight. He's tried his best to calm things down but she goes against him. Sooner or later I wouldn't be surprised if he just wants out. The writing's on the wall.”

“It's not fair. While he is out working so hard with his foundation, helping people he doesn't even know but who are so deprived and he just wants to make them happy, look what his wife's doing? She's not picking up the phone calling us to try and make amends. No, with her big ego she's gone on national TV and stuttering through the interview. It's crazy. She said it's with her husband's blessing but I don't think so.”

“We have done everything in the past to compromise so to say we haven't is just another big lie but it's very one way with her. She's not listening to her parents, Amir, or us but whenever we tried to say anything she didn't like it.”
