Nicola Adams plans to use a gift from a six-year-old Scottish schoolgirl to win over any wavering host nation fans at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. England's Olympic gold medallist will wear a tartan bandana into the ring when the women's flyweight boxing competition gets under way on Monday. The bandana - in the green and blue colours of the Adams clan - was sent to Adams soon after she confirmed her participation in the Games. "I've got a bandana made out of Adams tartan that a six-year-old girl Scottish girl sent me in the post," said Adams.

Olympic silver medallist Fred Evans has been forced out of the Commonwealth Games after having his accreditation refused. The Welsh welterweight did not travel with his team-mates to Glasgow on Tuesday after being informed he had been denied the chance to compete based on checks completed by the Home Office and Commonwealth Games officials. In a statement to the Press Association, Wales chef de mission Brian Davies said: "Team Wales can confirm that boxer Fred Evans has had his accreditation refused by Glasgow 2014 based on checks completed by the Home Office and the Commonwealth Games accreditation decision board.

The Wicklow fighter saw off the Bulgarian - the last woman to beat her back in 2011 - 3-0 as she qualified for a 16th career final. It was a clinical performance from the odds-on favourite, who will now meet Estelle Mossely for the 60kg medal on Saturday. British Medalist Evans Guilty in Strip Club Assault

Fred Evans, a British amateur welterweight who captured a silver medal in the 2012 Olympics, has pleaded guilty to his role in assaulting a man at a strip club earlier this year, according to tabloid The Daily Mirror. Evans, 23, and another man had been accused of attacking the man and rendering him unconscious following a conversation in February about an MTV show called “The Valleys” that is filmed in Wales. Evans is from Cardiff.
