Alen Babic showed little nuance but plenty of power as he walked forward and threw non-stop bombs until Shawndell Williams collapsed to the canvas in the second round of their scheduled heavyweight eight-rounder.

The 29-year-old Croatian, who is part of Dillian Whyte’s promotional team and goes under the nickname of ‘Savage’ won inside two rounds and then called out his countryman, Filip Hrgovic.

“This is Alen, that was ‘Savage’, he is crazy, I am telling you I am afraid of him,” Babic said. “When I go into that mental state with my alter-ego I know I can do damage and with every heavyweight out there. I want to be tested. They say I am the smallest heavyweight, but this is my weight. I want to fight giants. Give me a giant. Eddie (Hearn), give me the biggest one you have. I know when I land, every coach says I have a bomb in my hand. It’s natural. Like Jack Dempsey.

I don’t see my fights going past three rounds. I want to bring something different to people. I’m not going to wait, I’m not going to see who is best, I don’t care about that. I want to kill him. If someone kills me, I want to say, that’s my end.

“Filip Hrgovic has been calling me out. I don’t like him, I want to fight him. If Eddie Hearn can arrange that, I think it is the quickest way I can go.”

Babic did not bother to try to box, going on the front foot from the first bell and whaling away with both hands. Williams, a 39-year-old American, soon looked overwhelmed as he tried to move and box but could not escape. Near the end of the first round, two left hooks dropped Williams into the ropes for a count.

The second round was much of the same, with Babic at one point loading up so much on a left hook he almost fell over himself.

But the heavy shots were getting through and when Williams was bundled to the floor after a relentless attack, referee John Latham virtually had to pull him off the floor, having ruled it not a knockdown. The fight was over moments later, as a series of heavy shots, culminating with a left hook sent him crashing back to the floor, Latham waving off the count. The finish came at 2:20 of the second round.
