Alekseev Surprised With The Huck vs Povetkin Outcome

By Inna Lagun, allboxing.ru

European cruiserweight champion Alexander Alexeev (23-2, 20KOs) was surpised with last Saturday's decision in the heavyweight fight between WBA "regular" champion Alexander Povetkin and WBO cruiserweight king Marco Huck. Povetkin won a twelve round majority decision, but there were many fans who saw Huck as the winner and/or scored the fight a draw.

"I'm a little surprised by the decision of the judges. For Sauerland Event, it's a win-win situation... Povetkin remained as the heavyweight champion and Huck did not lose his cruiserweight title. In this battle, Marco Huck surprised [Povetkin] with his speed and physical nature. Huck was dictating the fight. But Marco constantly violated the rules by hitting to the back of the head, to which the referee did not react. Alexander was not ready for such a pace, combined with changing his trainer, it all played out. Povetkin did not show what he is capable of in this fight. I've known him for years and I know his potential. I think a rematch would settle everything," Alekseev said.
