Alan Sanchez Continues Winning Ways at Cache Creek Casino

By Francisco Salazar

Fringe welterweight contender Alan Sanchez won a one-sided eight round decision over Ramses Agaton late Saturday night at the Cache Creek Casino in Brooks, California.

Sanchez utilized his height and reach effectively, and was busier and more-effective fighter throughout much of the fight.

All three judges scored the bout 80-72 in favor of Sanchez, who resides in nearby Fairfield.

Sanchez (20-3-1, 10 knockouts) has won his last eight bouts. Agaton, who resides in the Mexico City area, falls to 20-7-3, 10 KOs.

In bantamweight action, Bruno Escalante stopped gatekeeper Javier Gallo (25-15-1, 13 KOs) at 1:48 of the sixth round. Escalante, who resides in the Northern California town of Redwood City, has won his last two bouts.

Jose Hernandez (19-3-1, 9 KOs) won an eight round majority decision over Ryan Bourland. One judge scored the bout 76-76, while the other two judges scored the bout 77-75 in favor of Hernandez, who has won his last seven bouts since a first round knockout loss to Ulises Sierra.

Cruiserweight prospect Blake McKernan (7-0, 5 KOs) won a six round unanimous decision over Miguel Cubos (11-15, 8 KOs).

The six-bout card was a co-promotion between Paco Presents and Don Chargin Productions.

IN OTHER RESULTS - Randy Moreno remained unbeaten Friday night, stopping hard-hitting Jorge Castaneda in the sixth round at the Laredo Energy Arena in Laredo, Texas.

It was a clash of junior lightweight prospects, where the winner would take a significant step forward. It would be Moreno, who has now won his four bouts since his knockout loss to Thomas Herrera on Mar. 11.

Moreno ended matters at 26 seconds of round six, when Castaneda was taking a beating after getting hurt by a barrage of punches from Moreno.

The 22-year-old Moreno, who resides in Las Vegas, improves to 12-1, 10 knockouts. He is promoted by Roy Jones Jr. Boxing Promotions.

Castaneda, who has fought all of his bouts in his hometown of Laredo, falls to 9-1, 9 KOs. Castaneda turned 21 years of age on Oct. 31.
