Abass Baraou: record, next fight and profile →

Kalle Sauerland’s Wasserman Boxing heads to the little-known West Midlands town of Telford this Friday to host the vacant EBU super welterweight title fight between Germany’s Abass Baraou and England’s Sam Eggington.

Wasserman Boxing is proud to confirm that Abass Baraou has signed a new deal with the company. The world-rated super welterweight will continue to be promoted by Wasserman Boxing, under the guidance of Kalle and Nisse Sauerland, who have been by his side since he made his professional debut in 2018.

One of British boxing’s most underappreciated fighters gets the opportunity to add another honor to his C.V next month. Having won the EBU welterweight title back in 2017, Sam Eggington (34-8, 20 KO’s) has the chance to become a two weight European champion when he boxes Germany’s Abass Barrou (14-1, 9 KO’s) for the vacant super welterweight belt in Telford on March 1st.

It is not officially confirmed yet by the WBA but it appears to be a fact that they will recognize the Bridgerweight title. According to German site boxen1.com the inaugural title fight will be staged on December 9 in Dubai where the troubled IBA (International Boxing Association) will hold a congress.

The WBA "regular" heavyweight champion, Mahmoud Charr, will not defend the title against Jarrell Miller as was previously planned (or hoped). According to the agreement with Charr and the WBA, the fight had to be finalized by October 14.

Rising French star and reigning EBU and WBA Intercontinental super welterweight champ Milan Prat (20-0) goes for a third belt on October 14 in Oberhausen (Germany) when he is in against WBO Global titlist Slawa Spomer (18-0) from Germany.

While it was announced today (August 8) that Robert Helenius will replace Dillian Whyte and fight Anthony Joshua on Saturday August 12, Finnish paper Ilta-Sanomat reports that negotiations for the fight began Saturday morning before Helenius fought Mika Mielonen.
