In a war of a fight, Mikkel Kessler (43-2, 32KOs) won a twelve round unanimous decision over previously undefeated Carl Froch (26-1, 20KOs) at the MCH Messecenter in Herning, Denmark, to win the WBC super middleweight title. The scores were 117-111, 115-113, 116-112.

The fight had a lot of close rounds. Froch was feeling his emotions after the fight was over. He said the fight was close and he believes the decision would have went his way if the event was held in Nottingham, England. Froch is now going home to relax and plans to return to the gym in a few weeks to start training for the August 21 bout with Arthur Abraham, taking place in the third stage of the Super Six Boxing Classic.

Froch gave a lot of credit to Kessler in the contest.

"I feel terrible. I lost my title but I don't want to make a mockery of anything. I think if that was at home in my town, the decision would have went the other way," Froch said.

"He's a strong proud warrior. The Danish fans have been absolutely brilliant. we said from the start the match between me and Mikkel Kessler would be one for the crowd. I though the fight could have went either way."

"If I beat Abraham I'm there. I will definitely be back."
