At the Coliseo Ruben Rodriguez in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. (18-0-1, 15KOs) knocked out previously undefeated Marvin Sonsona (14-1-1, 12KOs) in four rounds to capture the vacant WBO super bantamweight title.

In the first round, both fighters were staying back and picking their spots. Sonsona landed a few more effective punches. Both of them began to let their hands go in the second round. Vazquez was landing some good counters. Vazquez landed some very good shots at the end of the round, opening a cut under Sonsona's left eye. Sonsona came out with big punches in the third round and Vazquez came right back with his own power shots. Vazquez was getting off better in the third.

During the fourth round, Vazquez landed a series of punches to the head and body to send Sonsona down for the full count. Sonsona appeared to be hurt bad by a left hook to the body.
