On Saturday night in Boston, Tevin Farmer retained his IBF super featherweight world title with a spectacular fifth round technical knockout of Northern Ireland's James Tennyson.

Farmer was too good and too slick nd dominated the action early, dropping Tennyson with a left to the body in the fourth.

One round later Farmer connected with a series of brutal body shots to put Tennyson down again and the fight was waved off.

“Who's the puncher, now?” crowed Farmer, who improved to 27-4 with one drawn and six knockouts and immediately reiterated his call for shot at unbeaten World Boxing Association title holder Gervonta Davis, who boasts a record of 20-0 with 19 knockouts.

Tennyson, in his first world title tilt, fell to 22-3 with 18 wins inside the distance.

Farmer wants his co-promoter, Eddie Hearn, to do everything in his power to secure Davis.

“I’m the best fighter in the world. I haven’t proved it yet but watch,” Farmer said.

“I want everybody with a belt. I don’t care who it is. But I have one particular guy I want. Gervonta Davis. Everyone’s like, why you not fighting, why you not fighting? Gervonta wants to fight. Everybody wants the fight. Now I got the belt, we got the money, and we got the venues. Let’s get it Davis already, let’s go!”

As far as his win over Tennyson, Farmer was very pleased - because he stopped a fighter who was being pushed as "the puncher" in their contest.

“I was learning on the job. I’m a few years in, 31, 32 years in. I’m just starting to adapt now. Starting at 19, I had to get all my experience through the pros. I just never gave up and I stuck to it. I have a hell of a team too. We put together a game plan and I executed it," Farmer said.

"The game plan was to work everything behind the jab, stay patient. I’ve been in a lot of tough fights, he hasn’t. Me and my camp knew I could punch. I knocked someone out before they knocked me out, so who’s the puncher? I can’t even explain it. It’s unexplainable. I’m not even supposed to be here today. I lost four of my first 12 fights. Most people would have gave up but I stuck to it…you just have to keep grinding and believe in yourself and listen to your team."
