Junior flyweight Joselito Velasquez faces Jose Flores Chanez as part of the 'SuperFly 3' undercard at the Forum in Los Angeles on Saturday night.
Velasquez, a Mexican Olympian is part of Freddie Roach's new stable of boxers.
"I think he's great, he's a very good boxer, he's a great puncher - he's got knockout power in both hands. I love working with him," said the respected trainer to BoxingScene.com.
Roach believes that despite having just five bouts under his belt is a fighter that can be put on the fast track to a title.
"Definitely, he's a big enough puncher to do that. He's shown that he's a very small guy that can knock you out," said Roach, who somewhat reluctantly draws a comparison to the best known boxer he's ever worked with."He's got explosion, I don't want to say like (Manny) Pacquiao but for lack of a word - it's like Pacquiao."
For this camp at Wild Card Boxing, Velasquez has had the opportunity to spar the likes of Donnie Nietes (who faces Aston Palicte for the vacant WBO 115-pound title) and according to Roach, "He does very well."
The 24-year old Velasquez is managed by Frank Espinoza and promoted by Zanfer Promotions.
