Amir Khan is hoping to silence Kell Brook by beating him in the ring.

As previously reported on BoxingScene.com  - he would first welcome a fight with either Adrien Broner or Jessie Vargas before facing his long-time rival.

Former IBF and WBA light welterweight champion Khan made a very rapid return to action last month, stopping Phil Lo Greco inside a minute in his first outing since losing to Saul Alvarez in May 2016. The contest was also his first in a three fight deal with promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport.

Brook was ringside in Liverpool to witness the demolition job and, with the pair both now working with promoter Eddie Hearn, it is hoped they may finally go toe-to-toe.

Khan wants the domestic showdown to eventually happen, as it will provide him with a long-overdue opportunity to prove he is better than his fellow Englishman.

Weight will be the biggest issue - as Brook does not want to fight at 147 and Khan is asking for the contest to take place at welterweight.

"Yes, I want to fight him, because I want to shut him up," the Bolton-born boxer told Sky Sports.

"I want to fight him, because a lot of people think I'm scared of him, and I want to fight him, because I want to show everyone that I'm the better fighter, and I'm the smarter fighter, and just a classier fighter.

"Instead of me saying it, I've got to prove it and show everyone that I am the better fighter as well. When the time is right, I'm just going to take it."

However, Khan revealed in the interview he intends to have at least one more fight before a lucrative bout with Brook.

The 31-year-old suggested Broner or Vargas - who fought out a majority draw in a catchweight contest in April - as potential opponents for his next outing, which is likely to be in September.
