On Saturday night Jessie Vargas (28-2) will face Adrien Broner (33-3) in a Showtime televised main event.  The triple header takes place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY and will also feature Gervonta "Tank" Davis against Jesus Cuellar for the vacant WBA super featherweight title and Jermall Charlo versus Hugo Centeno for the interim WBC middleweight title.

After an eleven month layoff Vargas returned to the ring under the PBC banner with a dominant decision win over Aaron Herrera in December. It was his first fight under the guidance of former three-division champion Mike McCallum.  Vargas is confident that he has the perfect team in place to defeat former four-division champion Adrien Broner.

"I wanted to give you guys a preview of what is to come on April 21st. As you saw I am fast and strong and smart. I have a great team behind me with Mike Mccallum and we have a great team together,"  Vargas told BoxingScene.com at his media day in Las Vegas last week.

Broner has been very quiet this training camp. The usually outspoken Ohioan trained under the guidance of Kevin Cunningham in Florida for this fight and Vargas expects Broner to be at his very best on Saturday.

In the past the 28-year-old Broner hasn't always been focused and hasn't always given 100% effort in his training camps. Vargas hopes that isn't the case for this fight and said that he wants to face the very best version of Broner so that he receives full credit for the victory.

"I would say he is focused on this fight. He knows what he is up against fighting me and I am glad he is focused. In the beginning I was a little afraid that he would get into trouble and I didn't want the fight to get postponed but fortunately he is focused and he is training under a new trainer in Kevin Cunningham but that isn't going to make any difference. I want the best Broner in front of me that way there won't be any excuses," said Vargas.
