In a stunning turn of events, Roc Nation Sports, the sports management company founded by rapper Jay Z, blew away the competition at today's WBO purse bid for Peter Quillin's mandatory defense against Matt Korobov.

Former Golden Boy executive David Itskowitch, now working with Roc Nation, was present on behalf of their company, which is eager to make a dent in the boxing promotional business.

Top Rank's Carl Moretti, who represents Korobov (24-0, 14KOs), bid a shade over $515,000. Ramiro Gonzalez of Golden Boy Promotions, who represent Quillin (31-0, 22KOs), bid $1,207,000 - and Roc Nation bid $1,900,480.

Moretti tells BoxingScene.com that Roc Nation is looking for a date in early November (1st or 8th, with the 8th as the current target) - with Barclays Center in New York City and Washington DC being mentioned as the two possible locations. Roc Nation has obtained promotional licenses in both states.
