BoxingScene.com has been advised by sources in Puerto Rico that a fight between WBA interim featherweight champion Jesus Cuellar (24-1) of Argentina and former two division champion Juan Manuel "Juanma" Lopez (34-4) is being discussed for September 11th at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Cuellar last fought in May when he defeated Rico Ramos via unanimous decision. Lopez has lost 4 of his last 8 fights including a third round knockout against Francisco Vargas in July.  Lopez's last two fights have taken place at 130 pounds but the proposed fight against Cuellar would take place at the featherweight limit of 126 pounds with Cuellar's interim title on the line.  Lopez last made 126 pounds when he lost to Mikey Garcia in June, 2013.  The issue of whether Lopez can safely make the weight is one of serveral factors being discussed.

BoxingScene.com previously reported that the fight card, which will be televised by FoxSports1, will also feature Luis Ortiz against Lateef Kayode for the interim WBA heavyweight title and a battle between unbeaten junior middleweight prospects, Julian Williams and Elizier Gonzalez.
