MGM Grand, Las Vegas - WBA 'regular' junior middleweight champion Erislandy Lara (19-2-2, 12KOs) and his team were furious with Saturday's twelve round split decision loss to Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (44-1-1, 31KOs).

On Saturday night they met in the ring, at a catch-weight of 155-pounds. Lara was tabbed as the winner by one judge with a card of 115-113, while the other two scores of 117-111 and 115-113 were ruled for Canelo.

Lara felt the split decision ruling was a bigger robbery than his 2011 majority decision loss to Paul Williams. Most observers saw Lara as a wide points winner over Williams, who won the bout with scores of 116-114, 115-114 and 114-114. Following the fight, the three judges were suspended over their highly criticized scorecards.

"It was disgraceful what they did to us," Lara said. "I want an immediate rematch. I will once again show that I'm better than him. He knows in his heart that he lost."

"This worse, this is worse than the Paul Williams fight. Paul Williams threw 1,000 shots. Canelo threw 400 and landed 97. Canelo didn't land 100 punches in twelve rounds and that tells you everything that you need to know. I made him miss all night long. I made him look worse [than Williams]."
