Julio Cesar Chavez Jr is coming off a controversial unanimous decision win over tough veteran Brian Vera as many felt Vera did the better work and deserved the victory. The three judges ringside had Chavez comfortably winning with scores of 98-92, 97-93 and the closer card being 96-94.

Many media members and fighters in attendance also felt Vera should've been the victor but when BoxingScene caught up with Chavez Jr, he not only felt he won the fight but also felt that the fight was never close.

"No, I never felt the fight was close. I always felt in control of the fight. There were rounds, like when I hurt my hand, he was a bit more active in those rounds. But in all the rounds, I landed the power punches" said Chavez.

Chavez did land some of the harder punches throughout the contest but they came too far and few in between as Vera was the aggressor and busier fighter throughout the fight. Vera was visibly hurt a couple times in the bout and Chavez points that if the tables were turned and he was the one who was hurt, people would still say he didn't win.

"Yes, I think he was more active but the power punches were always mine. The 3 judges had the fight in my favor and like I told people, people expected a knockout. But if the fight was reversed and I was Vera and I was put in those conditions, how would I win the fight? He also hit me a lot with his head and below the belt" informed Chavez.

Bad decisions and scoring in boxing are nothing new. Just a couple weeks ago judge CJ Ross inexplicably had the Floyd Mayweather-Saul Alvarez fight scored a draw which raised a lot of controversy and led many to question some of the officials assigned to judge these bouts.

Chavez was asked if he felt the judges for this fight showed him any favoritism or gave him any additional support which Chavez quickly rejected.

"Not at all. I feel the judges were ringside and they saw the clean and clear punches that I connected. I had the fight that way. 7 rounds to 3 and I expected the fight that way. I was never, never scared to lose the fight".

Chavez informed he feels there is no need for a rematch and despite the injury to his right hand, he still hopes to return before the end of the  year in December.
