IBF lightweight champion Miguel "El Titere" Vazquez hasn't had a chance to watch Yuriorkis Gamboa's victory Saturday night over Darleys Perez yet but says that he is very interested in facing the former featherweight champion who picked up a WBA interim lightweight title on Saturday.

"I didn't get a chance to see the fight but I knew that Perez would come with everything he had.  I read that it was a difficult fight for Gamboa but that he won.  I would love to face him in a unification fight," Vazquez stated.

Gamboa was an explosive fighter at featherweight but has received criticism for his performances in his past two fights which took place at 130 and 135 pounds.  Vazquez is no stranger to criticism himself as he has been criticized for his elusive defense first style. He said that he doesn't pay attention to the criticism and that the art of Cuban boxing is one of the best in the world.

"I don't really pay attention to the critics.  People can criticize Gamboa but all I know is that I would love to fight him.  I have a lot of respect for Cuban boxing.  They have a great program and produce great fighters," said Vazquez.

The 31-year-old Gamboa is promoted by 50 Cent's SMS Promotions who has worked with Vazquez's co-promoter Top Rank in the past. A fight between the two would seem to have a good possibility of coming to fruition. Gamboa has been outspoken about wanting a big fight and Vazquez said he is ready to challenge the Cuban.

"Honestly I think I am a better fighter than him.  I think I am a more complete fighter than Gamboa.  He always is saying that nobody wants to face him but I want to fight him and it is a fight that could be made," Vazquez told BoxingScene.com
