Multiple sources in Houston have advised BoxingScene.com that former super bantamweight champion Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym failed his pre-fight blood test because the Thai star tested positive for HIV [Human immunodeficiency virus is a lentivirus that causes acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, AIDS]. Follow-up tests were taken to confirm the result. The local commission refused to license the fighter after the result was confirmed.

The fight was scheduled to be televised by HBO as the co-feature fight to the Nonito Donaire versus Jorge Arce main evening that takes place on Saturday in Houston, TX.

In an earlier article on BoxingScene, the Thai fighter's wife, Uangkarn Udomna, stated that Poonsawat's test failure may be the result of the recessive blood disorder, thalassemia.

According to a press release issued by Top Rank, they are looking to get Rigondeaux back in the ring as soon as possible.
