Former champion Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. (22-2-1, 19KOs) would prefer to face Puerto Rican rival Juan Manuel Lopez (31-2, 28KOs) as a champion. Top Rank, who promote both, are interested in matching the two boxers on a February date in Puerto Rico. After Vazquez lost a split decision to Nonito Donaire in February, Vazquez's co-promoter Tutico Zabala has been positioning his boxer to another title shot. There are talks that Doniare will move up in weight by early next, leaving the WBO super bantamweight title vacant and giving Vazquez the opportunity to go for that title.

"For me, I fight with him [Lopez] now. But I can not do two jobs at once, being [the manager] and focus on the fight. I am available to fight anybody. They only have to tell me the date. Right now, I don't want to dissolve the entire process that Tutico has done to [put me in line] for the world title again. I realize that it would be wrong to my part [to destroy his work]. I would like to look for a world title and after I become champion again, then [I can fight Juanma]," Vazquez said to Alex Figueroa.

Vazquez does not feel Juanma would have an advantage over him at 126 pounds.

"No, because Juanma Lopez has no advantage. I have more technique, more moves and I'm faster than him," Vazquez said.
