Super bantamweight prospect Orlando Del Valle (16-0) appeared on the latest edition of The Boxing Lab, BoxingScene.com's official audio show. Del Valle spoke on a variety of topics including his win over Christopher Martin that was broadcast on the latest edition of Showtime's ShoBox series.

The Puerto Rican fighter said that Martin was crafty inside the ring and that the fight was by no means easy even if it looked that way.

"You thought it looked easy but it wasn't. Give credit to Chris Martin. He's a heck of  a fighter. He adjusted to the pace but I was able to go in there and get the win," Del Valle told The Boxing Lab.

According to Del Valle, speed and pressure were the key ingredients to leaving the ring as the winner.

"I knew I could put pressure on him and make him fight. We were happy to take the fight. I knew my speed and the pressure I brought would be the key and we showed that," said Del Valle as he revealed the fight game plan.

We also asked Orlandito if he felt that this victory would ascend him to contender status or if he felt he was still a few fights away. The Bayamon, Puerto Rico native pointed to Teon Kennedy, who battled Martin to a draw in January, as an example of why he should now be considered a contender. Kennedy faces WBA super bantamweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux on the Manny Pacquiao-Tim Bradley undercard in June.

"This fight takes my prospect status away and turns me into a contender. Teon Kennedy is fighting for a world title. He fought Martin to a draw and a lot of people thought he beat Martin," Del Valle concluded.
