Krynica Zdroj, Poland - Towering Polish cruiserweight Pawel Kolodziej (30-0, 17 KOs) possibly made his last step to a title shot, after he dominated tough Romanian competitor Guilian Ilie (18-5-2, 5 KOs) in what seemed to be an IBF 200lb eliminator.

The first half of the fight was quite even with both boxers having their chances. Much taller WBA #3, IBF #4, WBC #6 and WBO #9 Kolodziej relied on his jab and ring generalship, while shorter but stronger IBF #15 Ilie, who scored two consecutive upset wins over Italian contenders in his two latest fights, used wild swings to some positive effect, especially in the first, in the third and in the sixth rounds. Kolodziej used his chances as well. The seventh round was a difference though, when Kolodziej landed several glancing right hands to put the Romanian down. Ilie survived the count and fought on but his steam ran out, and he was taking much more punishment despite still being dangerous with his sudden swings. Kolodziej steadily and confidently fought his way out of trouble at a measured pace. However, he looked too open for some left hands, which wasn't a key for Ilie but which surely will be a key for tougher challengers. Ilie tried hard and took the end of the fight.

After twelve rounds, all three judges saw it non-surprisingly for Kolodizej - 120-107, 117-110 and 118-110. BoxingScene saw it a bit closer: 116-111 - for the Pole, who added Ilie's IBF I/C title to his growing collection. Next for Kolodizek could be a showdown with the IBF champion Yoan Pablo Hernandez.

Poland-based Nigerian combatant Izuagbe "Izu" Ugonoh moved up to 7-0, with 6 KOs, with an impressive stoppage of rugged German Bjoern Blaschke (8-2, 5 KOs), who suffered the first TKO loss in his career.

Ugonoh, 25, who has also been born in Poland's Szczecin, looked slightly better than Blaschke in each fought round until the end. The German used his vast amateur experience to hang on but he wasn't too active to hand Ugonoh any visible problems. Late into the fifth, Ugonoh landed several hard blows to rock the German. After the break, Izuagbe continued his assault and soon floored Blaschke with a perfect left hook. Blaschke got up, but Ugonoh landed a hard right uppercut, pinned Bjoern to the ropes, where a towel was thrown by the German corner, halting the action. TKO 6 - for the steadily rising Nigerian.

Another Polish cruiserweight Krzysztof Glowacki (16-0, 10 KOs) looked pretty good against well-known Belgian cruiserweight Ismail Abdoul (42-24-2, 16 KOs). Glowacki nailed Abdoul with a hard left hook fifteen secodns into the fight and almost wobbled him at the end of the first stanza. However, granite-chinned Abdoul easily sustained Glowacki's pressure and lasted the entire distance. The Pole was much more active and got a well deserved wide decision over six workmanlike rounds. Scores were: 60-54 and 59-55 (twice) - for Glowacki. Abdoul was stopped only once in his career by Glowacki's namesake and compatriot Krzysztof Wlodarczyk.

Other results:

Krzysztof Kopytek (1-0, 1 KO) KO 1 Tomas Radlof
