It was a night filled with knockouts at Windy City Fight Night 20 as WBO NABO light heavyweight champion Andrzej Fonfara (20-2, 11 KOs) knocked out Phil Williams (11-5-1, 10 KOs) in the third round at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago, Illinois.

During the opening round, 6’2 tall Fonfara used his long reach to keep his shorter opponent at bay. As the fight progressed, Williams attacked the body of Fonfara, and clinched more frequently in an effort to avoid Fonfara’s attack.

Fonfara came out swinging in the third round, looking to put Williams away. Suddenly, a strong right hand struck the head of Williams followed by a left hook. Williams was down and out of the count. The victory marked the eighth consecutive knockout win for Fonfara.

In heavyweight action, Lance Gauch (3-4, 3 KOs) scored a third-round TKO over Curtis Tate (3-3. 3 KOs). Both boxers were swinging with power from the start, but it was Gauch who was finding the openings.

Gauch continued to land his punches until the third, when he landed a right uppercut followed by a left-right combo, forcing Tate to take a knee as his mouthpiece dropped. Referee Pete Podgorski halted the bout at the official time of 1:28.

Also on the card, super middleweight Mike Gavronski (5-0-1, 4 KOs) earned a second-round TKO over Cesar Martinez (1-4-1). Martinez was wobbled by an uppercut as Gavronski followed up with a series of left and right hooks. Martinez went down, and referee Gerald Scott deemed him unable to continue. The end came at 2:15.

In addition, cruiserweight Dimar Ortuz (2-0, 2 KOs) dominated Joe Hancock (0-2) inside of one round. From the opening bell, Ortuz went on the attack as Hancock retreated and clinched in order to survive. Ortuz continued his pursuit as he landed uppercuts and hooks until referee Pete Podgorski called a halt to the contest. The time of stoppage was 1:49.

Plus, super middleweight Paul Littleton (1-0, 1 KO) earned a second-round TKO over Jose Laguer at the time of 0:01. Littleton was declared the winner when Laguer could not continue after one round.
