German promoter Wilfried Sauerland of Sauerland Event is gromming his two heavyweight stars, Alexander Povetkin (22-0, 15KOs) and Robert Helenius (16-0, 11KOs), to become the next generation to rule the division. The championship brothers, Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko, hold a dominating grasp on the entire division. Sauerland is not going to chase the Klitschkos, because the lack of credible opponents will force the Klitschkos to pursue Povetkin and Helenius.

"We are not going to chase the Klitschkos for a fight, because it is they who are experiencing a shortage of contenders. Because of this reason, they roam [for opponents] in the lower weight divisions. But our guys - Povetkin and Robert Helenius - are not the usual contenders for show. They are motivated kids who go in the ring to win. Robert is first line under the WBO, which is a belt owned by Wladimir. Povetkin is the regular WBA champion and he's capable of challenging [Wladimir] Klitschko for the WBA's super championship," Sauerland told Alexander Pavlov.

Tonight in Helsino, Finland, Povetkin defends his title against Cedric Boswell and Helenius faces Dereck Chisora for the vacant EBU title.
