Ricardo Mayorga was extremely confident when he met with the media at the press conference for his upcoming fight with Miguel Cotto this weekend in Las Vegas. The outspoken Nicaraguan feels that he is too big for the Puerto Rican fighter.

“Cotto was a good if not great fighter at 135 and 140 pounds,” Mayorga theorizes. “147 was even too much for him.”

The former two-division champion feels that Cotto shouldn't be fighting at 154 pounds, that it’s simply too much weight. He also dismissed Cotto's win over Yuri Foreman when he captured the WBA 154 lb. title for his fourth championship in three weight classes.

“154 is the wrong territory for him. All he has done at 154 was beat a Yuri Foreman who had one arm and one leg. Who is he trying to kid?  He isn't a 154 pound champion and on Saturday, I will snatch his belt.”

Mayorga has claimed all week to anyone who will listen that he will knock out Cotto in four rounds or less so he can land a fight with Manny Pacquiao.

“It took Pacquiao nine or ten rounds (12 actually) to knock out Cotto. I need to put on a spectacular performance. That is why I will knock him out in four rounds or less.  If I do that, then Pacquiao will have to fight me.

“I don't want a late round knockout or win by decision. I must be impressive.”
