The promoters of WBC welterweight titlist Andre Berto of Winter Haven, Fla., and southpaw junior welterweight (140 pounds) contender Victor Ortiz, of Oxnard, Calif., are still discussing a potential clash between the two on April 16.

Berto (27-0, 21 knockouts) vs. Ortiz (28-2-2, 22 KOs) would take place as part of an HBO televised split-site, double-header of an event that could match WBA junior welterweight king Amir Khan (24-1, 17 KOs) of England against Lamont Peterson (28-1-1, 14 KOs), or another opponent, according to Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions.

"The idea is to team it up with a delay from England with Amir Khan's fight with the live fight here in the United States. The live fight which is being discussed is Andre Berto against Victor Ortiz," said Schaefer.

"We're talking about it. It was offered. You know, Lou called me. I discussed it with Team Ortiz. They are interested. We're basically looking into whether it's financially feasible for this big fight, and we have to make sure that the dollars make sense. We're going to be working on it I'm sure more aggressively next week."
