Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum recently advised BoxingScene.com that he intends to match WBA "regular" middleweight champion Ryota Murata against undefeated contender Jason Quigley (14-0, 11 KOs).

Arum is targeting the date of October 20 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

But the World Boxing Association issued an order - which directed Murata to make a mandatory defense against Rob Brant. A purse bid took place a few days ago, with Brant's promoter winning - as Top Rank refused to take part.

Arum has no intention of staging Murata-Brant and wants to move forward with his plans - and vows to fight any attempt to strip Murata of the WBA belt.

Quigley was back in action last in March, when he put away Daniel Rosario Cruz.

"I hope to return to the ring very shortly," Quigley told Sky Sports. "I have been keeping myself in great shape, I've been staying ready. There's been fights being talked about constantly.

"As I've always said, I'm ready for whoever, whenever, once the deal happens."

And Quigley has no problem with his next ring opportunity being a world title fight against Murata, who also captured a gold medal in the Olympics for Japan.

"Yes, 100 percent," said Quigley. "I want to get up to the top level and I want to fight the best in the world, and I'm ready to do everything."

Quigley feels inspiration after watching his close friend, TJ Doheny, traveling to Japan to capture the IBF super bantamweight title with a win over the hometown herp, Ryosuke Iwasa.

"TJ went into Japan against a Japanese home fighter, a reigning world champion, and took him out of there," said Quigley. "There's not many people that can do that, but when you're Irish you have a far better chance. It was great to see TJ doing that."
