Adrien Broner believes Eddie Hearn genuinely wants to sign him to a promotional contract.

That didn’t stop Broner from publicly ripping the British promoter’s three-fight, $6,750,000 offer in an Instagram post Wednesday. The former four-division champion didn’t just turn down Hearn’s proposal in his post – he referred to it as a “Slave Deal.”

Broner has worked with influential adviser Al Haymon throughout his career, but technically doesn’t have a promoter. Hearn is trying to sign Broner and other established American stars now that his company’s U.S. division, Matchroom Boxing USA, is armed with huge license fees as part of its reported $1 billion deal with the Perform Group’s streaming service, DAZN.

Broner posted Wednesday what appeared to be part of an email Hearn sent to him on an unspecified day last week.

Hearn’s email read: Further to our recent conversations, you may have seen our announcement last week for our new deal for 16 shows per year in the US. I would be very interested to offer Adrien a three-fight promotional agreement as follows:

Fight 1 – Sept 2018 – Purse $2,000,000

Fight 2 – March 2019 – Purse $2,250,000

Fight 3 – September 2019 – Purse $2,500,000

This will give AB security and also a concrete schedule to work from. 3 fights in 12 months!

Hearn didn’t specify in the email the opponents he had in mind for Broner (33-3-1, 24 KOs, 1 NC). The Cincinnati native most recently settled for a majority draw with Jessie Vargas (28-2-1, 10 KOs) in a 12-round, 144-pound bout April 21 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Regardless, Broner isn’t satisfied with the money Hearn offered him.

In his Instagram post, Broner wrote, “I’m sorry @eddiehearn you a good guy and all but you tried to give me a worst deal than @rocnation offered me.” Broner added the hashtags #ThisSh*tIsOva #SlaveDeal.

The 28-year-old Broner hasn’t recorded a decisive victory since stopping Ashley Theophane in the ninth round in April 2016. He regularly draws strong ratings for Showtime, though, and remains one of the most polarizing people in boxing.
