World Boxing Council Diamond/World Boxing Association lightweight world champion, Jorge Linares (43-3, 27 KOs), will make his second consecutive presentation at the Forum in Inglewood, California, on January 27th, fighting Mercito "No Mercy" Gesta (31-1-2, 17 knockouts).

"I`ve  travelled far and wide, all over the world to win and to defend my titles, and I'm looking forward to keep winning in the  United States," said Jorge Linares, who`s recently defeated  Anthony "Million Dollar "Crolla, Kevin" Mighty "Mitchell and Luke Campbell.

"I know that Gesta has speed and power, but he has not been at this level before, and on January 27 he will realize just what it`s like, to face a true world champion."

Gesta, the 30-year-old Filipino fighter, who has won his last six bouts, defeating a strong line up including:  Gilberto "Flaco" González and top contender Martín "Brushes" Honorio.

Linares was in action back in in September when he walked away with a split decision victory against the English southpaw "Cool Hand" Luke Campbell

(17-2, 14 KOs) at Los Angeles' "Fabulous" Forum.

Linares dropped Campbell in the second round with a hard right hand and engaged in explosive exchanges in each round to win with scores of 115-112 and 114-113, while one judge scored the fight 115-113 for Campbell.

IN OTHER NEWS: Undefeated World Boxing Council super bantamweight champion, Rey Vargas, will face Colombian Oscar "El Jaguar" Negrete this Saturday, December 2nd in the cathedral of Boxing,  Madison Square Garden, New York.

Both fighters passed their pre-fight weigh-ins at the 30 day and 7 day marks, as well as the medical exams required by the WBC, However, Negrete must still present his blood tests. Given the professionalism of this fighter and his team, the WBC has no doubt that he will facilitate this as soon as possible.
